Belagavi: With the Ganeshotsav festival approaching, the district administration has begun preparations to ensure that celebrations across the city are conducted peacefully, systematically and with communal harmony.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Roshan urged Ganesh Utsav mandals to make Belagavi’s unique festival celebrations an example for the rest of the country. Speaking at a preparatory meeting with Ganesh mandal representatives and idol makers, he directed officials to complete road repairs, pothole filling and other essential civic works before the festival begins.
City Police Commissioner Bhushan Borase appealed to Ganesh mandals to cooperate with the police and strictly follow the prescribed guidelines. Mandals have been advised to install CCTV cameras at pandals and ensure compliance with regulations concerning idol height, electrical decorations and loudspeaker usage.
The police have also imposed restrictions on the use of DJ systems, while loudspeakers will not be permitted after 10 pm.
Meanwhile, the civic authorities are preparing additional safety arrangements at idol immersion points. Cranes, technical teams and trained divers will be deployed to facilitate smooth and safe immersion operations.
Officials have appealed to organisers and devotees to celebrate the festival responsibly by following safety guidelines and maintaining peace and harmony throughout the celebrations.
